Radio Drama

Radio drama is a form of audio storytelling broadcast on radio. With no visual component, radio drama depends on dialogue, music and sound effects to help the listener imagine the story. Drama is the specific mode of fiction represented in performance. The term comes from a Greek word meaning "action".

Drama is also one effective format or program to disseminate message effectively in which different actors acts following the story of drama. Conversation, music, voice etc. materials are also used effectively in drama. We can find imaginative story in drama., which is familiar and effective genre of radio. In facts drama depicts life. Dialogue, sound, music, silence are used in drama. Drama deals with problem and solution of life, relation, and feelings. Story is imaginative but based on real story or possible thing. Drama also creates pictures.. Music used in drama depicts the mode of drama. Direction part plays important role in drama making. Producer and director are the leader of drama.

Radio drama achieved widespread popularity within a decade of its initial development in the 1920s. By the 1940s, it was a leading international popular entertainment. With the advent of television in the 1950s, however, radio drama lost some of its popularity, and in some countries, has never regained large audiences. However, recordings of OTR (old-time radio) survive today in the audio archives of collectors and museums.
